Step back in time to the era of prospectors and explorers and experience an authentic closeness to nature in one of our Prospector Tents.  Have the most realistic wilderness experience during your stay and enjoy the comforts and adventures of camping in the South Chilcotin Mountain Park, where boreal forests, alpine meadows and crystal-clear waters await around every corner.  Only 30 minutes away from Gold Bridge, Bralorne and Gun Lake on Gun Creek Road, right after the Carpenter Lake Road/Tyaughton Lake Road turn off, the campground lies in the absolute wilderness but close enough to the pioneer towns for a quick stop at the gas station. You can get here from Lillooet on the Carpenter Lake Road or from Gold Bridge on the Hurley Pass. Both of them have historic background and are a scenic drive to our back country.

Unlike a simple back pack tent, the Prospector tents are based on a solid wooden 10' by 12' walkabout flooring with a canvas tent allowing them to be furnish with comfortable beds, dressers and chairs. You can choose between two twin beds or one queen bed, both equipped with our finest linens to make your camp site as adventurous and as comfortable as possible, allowing guests to start every new exciting day relaxed and ready for adventure.

From here you can start your exploration of the magnificent South Chilcotin Mountain Park. Plan your expedition into the gorgeous Gun Creek Valley while you survey the area from the deck in the glimmering air of the rising sun. Or explore the emerald coloured water of Mowson and Pearson ponds only stone’s throw from your campsite, their calm surfaces broken only by the plentiful trout living in its waters. Take a day’s drive into Big Creek Park or Bridge Delta Park, where the beauty of nature is on a whole new level. For short trips, stay in the Carpenter Lake area and go for a canoeing trip or experience the mystery of the ghost town or feel the gold rush in one of the old mines that are typical for our region.

After your breathtaking experience in the wilderness, whether it is wildlife viewing, hiking up to Spruce Lake Park or mountain biking, come back to your camp site just like a pioneer and enjoy the pleasures of water and power for your  day to day needs. Your afternoons can be spent relaxing and watching horses grazing on the meadows around you and canter in the pastures of the surrounding western-style ranches that mimic the explorer life-style. Let the evening draw to an end while you overlook the blossoming valley from your wooden porch and listen to the rushing creek as you read a book in the sunset.

When the sun sets, sit by the bonfire and bring out your guitars or have a barbecue in the close by fire pit on the campground, which we provide firewood for.

We will make your camping as enjoyable as possible with daily housekeeping. You only need to bring your personal gear and meals. You can even add-on full meal service for a small extra fee. Our Historic Gun Creek Lodge kitchen can provide you with home-made breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our menu includes all the traditional gastronomic specialities that North America is famous for. More possible add-ons are horseback trips, fishing, hiking, target shooting and much more!
